The RS3160 is a multiple host SCSI/Fibre-to-IDE RAID subsystem that delivers both unparalleled Enterprise-level performance along with exceptional value. The RS3160 RAID subsystem is a dual-host SCSI-to-IDE or Fibre-to-IDE device in a customized rack mount enclosure that can support 16 ATA hard drives. With a streamlined 64-bit hardware architecture, the RS3160 offers a cost effective yet powerful solution that gives users a high capacity fault tolerant storage solution. The RS3160 can be configured to RAID levels 0, 1 (0+1), 3, or 5. A dual independent PCI bus design efficiently extends the available bandwidth, making it the ideal choice where the need for a large-capacity format exceeds the need for higher performance.

RS3160 SATA RAID Data Sheet

The RS3160 has a 64-bit, Intel i80303 processor and is built around a dual bus architecture with a dedicated data engine that includes 128MB of cache upgradeable to 512 MB. The RS3160 offers multiple RAID level settings including levels 0, 1 (0+1), 3, and 5. Automatic drive failure detection, automatic drive rebuild, hot spare and background rebuild, disk hot swap, and online background rebuild make it possible for users to retrieve and write data at all times. The RS3160 also give users the piece of mind that they will never lose data due to bad blocks. If bad blocks are encountered during the data rebuild process, LBA (Logical Block Addressing) will be initiated and the rebuild process will continue with unaffected sectors. Also featuring Dynamic On-line RAID Expansion, additional capacity can easily be added without system downtime.
